…for 60 to be sexy.
I’m referring to two new movies that both star 60-year old women. “It’s Complicated,” a romantic comedy with Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin, opens Christmas day. I haven’t seen it, but I know there’s a bathtub scene.
Sigourney Weaver looks stunning on the cover of the current More magazine, promoting her role in Avatar, THE movie of the season! (It opens Dec 18th.)
I just don’t think that those kinds of roles have ever been available before for 60-year-old women: the star of an important action movie? Being cast as a romantic lead?
This is just another example of Baby Zoomers (those over 60**) writing a new social script, a new cultural agenda. Rewriting the rules, just as we rewrote them in 1967 and 1977.
We’re making it up as we go along, and tens of millions of younger baby boomers are marching in lockstep, right behind us, following the path we are forging.
**12,000 boomers turn 63 every day. A boomer turns 50 every 4 seconds.
